With a ton of power set right over the rear wheels, its reputation is to lose control as soon as the driver stops concentrating. However, this isn't quite so true anymore. Back in March, Elephant Racing posted a short video showing us how the rear-wheel steering works on the new Porsche 911 GT3. The other day, they published this video below showcasing Porsche's front axle lift system on the 991 GT3. Basically it's an electro-pneumatic system which raises the body via the PASM dampers on the front axle by 30 mm (1.2 inches). You simply push a button on the center console and you can raise the front end while driving at speeds up to 30mph. That all sounds well and good, but Elephant Racing's video shows us the capability and functionality of this $3500 option in…

The 918 Spyder is Porsche's most expensive production car to date. For those lucky few that can afford one, spending a little extra on luggage custom developed to fit the interior is probably no big deal. Especially when you consider the fact that the luggage was designed by the Porsche Design Studio and developed alongside the 918 in Weissach. How The 918 Luggage Is Made Each piece is made from the same materials found in the cockpit and passenger compartment of the 918. "Handmade in Germany“, the pieces of luggage are manufactured from a unique combination of exposed carbon and authentic…

I'm afraid of heights, terrified even. I don't like standing on the first step of a ladder so you can forget about racing up mountains in a Porsche. In fact, I remember being the passenger in a 991 driving to the top of the Mt. Washington auto road (the tallest peak in New England) a few years back and wondering how in the hell Jeff Zwart ever gets behind the wheel of his Porsche to race to the top of Pikes Peak. It's just not natural. Then, last week I saw the video produced by /DRIVE that shows Jeff's race from his point of view. That's not too bad, I thought. I was wrong. Dead wrong. The…

Most Porsche fans know of other owners who sold a Porsche in the past, for one reason or another, and wished they could get it back. It happened to us (but that's a story for a later date). Unfortunately, for lots of different reasons, most of us are never able to get back the one that got away. Fortunately, for Kristin Russell's step father Dave, there's a happy ending to his saga. Decades ago Dave owned a 1973 Porsche 914. It was in rough shape, but he was saving money to restore it. Then he met Kristin's mom. Instead of using his hard saved cash to restore the Porsche as planned, he put it…

Air makes things slower. And air makes things faster: Aerodynamics is both a curse and a blessing for sports cars. The keyword here: downforce. Throughout its 50 years of development, the basic form of the Porsche 911 has been a perfect aerodynamic example of the latter. At the same time, the 911 provides an impressive lesson on how it is possible to continue to aerodynamically refine a car’s basic form without losing key aspects of its distinctive design and brand recognition. The aerodynamic contour of the Porsche 911 stems from the 1950s and is a legacy of the Porsche 356. In those days,…
