Located in the Italian Alps, Stelvio is the highest paved mountain pass in the eastern Alps and is considered by many to be one of the greatest driving roads in the world. In the video that follows we see a McLaren P1 and Porsche 918 Spyder being chased by an Audi R8 V10. Clearly it looks like the Porsche should be in the lead as it seems to eat up the distance between it and the McLaren fairly easily. If anything, I think I've become so jaded from all the over produced videos out there that I kept waiting for these guys to start drifting around the corners like this Carrera GT. Other Porsche…

Filed under: Spy Photos, Coupe, Performance, Porsche, Luxury We've already seen photos of the facelifted Porsche Boxster out testing, but we're now seeing these same changes making their way onto the hardtop Cayman coupe. Cosmetically, the next round of Porsche's smallest sports cars isn't vastly different, with redesigned headlamps, LED running lights (like its big brother, the 911), and new taillamps that actually aren't visible on the prototype seen here. The big news for the updated Boxster/Cayman range is the long-rumored four-cylinder engine. Recent reports suggest we could see…

When you think of Austin, Texas and the Circuit of the Americas, surely your first thought is torrential downpours and sheets of rain. Wait, that's not right. Usually races at the circuit are arid and hot, generally running trouble-free thanks to lots of runoff area and that wide uphill turn 1. This time, to turn a Texan phrase, the World Endurance Championship had a few hitches in their get along. The 6 hour race in Texas got off to a fantastic start with the two Toyotas streaking off into the lead, clearly the match of the field. It looked like everything was already lined up in Toyota's…

  • Porsche To Offer Detuned Boxster and Cayman In Some European Markets

    Bradley Brownell
    19 Sep 2014 | 7:17 am
The 981 Boxster and Cayman are gaining new model lines almost as quickly as the 991 is. The defining characteristic of the different models is horsepower. The standard 'base' car has 265 horses (275 in the Cayman), there's the S we all know and love with 315 (325 in the Cayman), and the new 330 horsepower GTS (340 in the Cayman), which continues to have praise heaped upon it. In certain markets, however, Porsche is introducing the "211", which is a sub-base model with, you guessed it, 211 horsepower in both the Boxster and Cayman. Both cars have already appeared on Porsche's regional websites…

I genuinely enjoy the additional Porsche models that are decidedly “less sporty” – if only because they’re so darn successful (the Cayenne is Porsche’s best-selling model in the US) that they basically bankroll R&D efforts toward more exciting things, like the 918 Spyder, and the 991 Turbo S. Given the Cayenne’s success, many were very anxious when Porsche announced it would be selling a smaller SUV, too. Initial reviews of the Macan have been quite favorable. Currently in the midst of this intriguing era of its reception where, like the Cayenne before it, people really…

According to a story in the Daily Mirror, a woman in Shenyang, China had just taken delivery of her new Porsche Boxster when she totaled it as she pulled out of the dealer's lot. Porsche salesman Qiang Chiu said: "We were still waving her goodbye when she shot forward and there was a tremendous bang." Apparently, the new Porsche driver mixed up the pedals and hit the gas when she should have hit the brakes. Unfortunately, she rear-ended at least two other cars (one of which was a Mercedes) and damaged two others. All told, the damage is estimated to be at least twice the value of her Boxster.

  • Porsche Macan Turbo vs Cayman GTS in track battle

    19 Sep 2014 | 10:45 am
Filed under: Coupe, Performance, Videos, Crossover, Porsche, Luxury "Well this is stupid." On the surface, that was our reaction to this video, as well. Why would you compare the hottest Porsche Cayman with a crossover of any kind, even if it is the 400-horsepower Macan Turbo? We're guessing because it'd be bloody good fun, as evidenced Auto Express's latest track battle. To be fair, there is some interesting stuff here. The two do have a similar starting price, separated by less than $3,000 here in the US market. And, factoring in the Macan's hefty horsepower and torque advantages - 60…

Filed under: Convertible, Coupe, Performance, Europe, Porsche Looking at a new Porsche Boxster? First of all, we commend you on your choice, because in its latest iteration, the Boxster has sped out from under the shadow of the 911 and into its own. But now to choose: do you get the base model with 265 horsepower, the Boxster S with 315 hp, or the top-of-the-line Boxster GTS with 330 hp? It's a daunting question, considering the $10k+ price gap between each model that you could put into the gas-and-rubber jar. Same goes for the Cayman, albeit with ten more horses across the board. But as if…

It's a clear, singular purpose, and Benz brings a lot of money, technology and race-bred expertise to the fight. The AMG GT is Merc's followup to the awesome SLS AMG, the retro-modern, gullwing-doored coupe that took us by storm half a decade ago. But this new GT coupe is a more focused sports car than the SLS, rather than an all out supercar capable of extreme performance. It's got a brand-new V8 engine, and state-of-the-art technology that…

Hoping I can get some help. Our cayenne for the past two days has this noise when going about 5 to 20 mph. It's like a rattling nose and kinda sounds like grinding. I'm still very new to this car and don't have much knowledge. I just did an oil change and nothing seems loose on the bottom of the car. I thought it was maybe the exhaust pipes hitting something. Can anyone think of what it could possibly be? Also, does anyone recommend a mechanic or place within Chino CA area? Hoping for a good deal as I can't afford to spend with a baby on the way :-/. Thanks for your help.
